Alexa Lee’s paintings focus on memory in a style influenced by artists of the aesthetic and romantic movements such as James McNeil Whistler and John William Waterhouse. Expressing memory through paintings of moments that seem unimportant with the subject seemingly lost in thought, Alexa draws upon her own memories as a female growing up in the South. My artwork represents the conflict between the desire to remember and the longing to forget.
Alexa’s works may be seen in the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art, the Gadsden Museum of Art and the Meridian Museum of Art.
