About the Artist
The educator in artist Julie Snidle will give you the history of the process of creating encaustic works. The word finds its origin in Greek and means to heat or burn in. Using a small blow torch, Julie fuses beeswax-based paint with heat after each layer is applied; a process discoverable in works of art for thousands of years.
Influenced by her travels, Julie’s work is ethereal and pleasing. Her non-representational paintings take you to the countryside of Provence with its blue sky, to wheat fields in the Midwest where the yellow peeks back at you, to a garden in Belgium where you struggle to describe the beauty of that pink flower!
Home for Julie is in Fairhope, Alabama but you’ll find her teaching encaustic workshops throughout the U.S. where her art is found in private and public collections.
