Tami Hallman

About the Artist

Tami Hallman is a Birmingham, Alabama-based still life watercolor painter with a passion for exploring the intricate details of everyday moments. Her work dives deep into the nuances of objects and scenes often overlooked, revealing them through layer upon layer of translucent watercolor. Inspired by the transparency and precision of the medium, Tami uses her distinct technique of extensive layering to bring a subject to life with incredible accuracy, echoing the way she processes the world—by fully immersing herself in each detail.

A graduate with a BFA from Whittier College in California, Tami finds her inspiration not only in objects but in her life’s rituals and experiences: travel, capturing daily images, savoring curated cocktails, and dissecting special moments. Like her artistic process, she replays cherished experiences in her mind, translating them meticulously in paint. Janet Fish’s still lifes have greatly influenced her dedication to portraying specificity, particularly in complex elements like glass and ice, which she renders with a controlled, sensitive hand.

Each of her paintings is a study in patience and observation, revealing beauty in overlooked elements. Through her work, she seeks to uncover every layer of a moment, building a visual story that speaks to the depth and significance in even the simplest of things.

Hallman’s works may be found in private collections throughout the south and at Canary Gallery.
